Devi Kotari peet
on the banks of river Hingosi about 100 kilo-meters from karachi
in Pakistan is a sacred
Devi-sthal.According to the legend the brain of the dismembered burnt
body of Dakshayani fell at this place and so it became one of the sacred
Devi-sthals. Another legend says Devi Gatyayini's third eye fell here.
(refer to 'Yoga-agni' in 'Abodes of devi' for background story)
Devi Parvathi is here as 'Kotari devi' and her 'kshetra-palaka'(consort) Siva as 'Bhimalochana.
The temple is situated in a cave. There is no information about the architecture or sculpture of this complex. There is no idol in this shrine. Prayers are offered to a 'jyothi' which is taken to be the image of the Goddess.
Not much details are available about this temple. Reports about the daily rituals and periodical festivals are scanty. This temple takes its sanctity from the fact that a sacred part of the Devi fell in this place and is worshipped as such. Prayers at this place will surely bring the 'Devi's blessings to all the devotees and the world.
